The Montanans for 4-H Committee is looking for a youth speaker to speak at the 2025 Legislative Breakfast.  The Legislative Breakfast will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the Delta Hotel Colonial in Helena, MT.  The selected youth speaker will need to attend the Leader/Member dinner Monday, January 20, 2025 at 6:00 pm for rehearsal and the Legislative Breakfast at 6:30 am on Tuesday morning. 

 

Speech Criteria:​​

The theme of the 2025 4-H Legislative Breakfast follows the National 4-H platform of "Beyond Ready." 4-H is addressing the cultural challenges facing today’s youth that includes loneliness and self-confidence; a need for emotional support and encouragement; career preparation; chronic absenteeism in education; and a growing dependence and addiction to screens and social media. It provides opportunities to empower 4-H youth to be "Beyond Ready."

 

Your speech should acknowledge these challenges and incorporate your personal growth story. It should explain how 4-H addresses these needs and provides a path forward that prepares youth to be: Ready to Lead, Ready to Serve, Ready to Build, and Ready to Conquer

The Montanans for 4-H Committee will review applications and audition videos and notify all candidates of the selection of the youth speaker no later than December 8, 2024. The youth speaker’s audition video can be used to develop a five-minute speech on the same topic.

​Youth Speaker Qualifications:

• A 4-H member enrolled and actively involved in 4-H between age of 12 and 16. 

• Able to speak clearly and comfortably in front of 400 people, including Montana 4-H legislators, special guests and 4-H members and volunteers.

• Can deliver a five-minute talk on how 4-H has provided them the opportunity to grow their character, responsibility and leadership skills. 

• Able to attend both the dinner on Jaunary 20 and breakfast on January 21 in person.
